Geographical Indication No. 232

A geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. In order to function as a GI, a sign must identify a product as originating in a given place.

Patan Patolas got GI 232 in year 2002 specifying that ony members who are registerd under it are practising original and genuine procedure of making Patan Patolas.

We issue GI 232 certificate with purchase of every Patan Patola Saree and Dupatta with the name of buyer which certifies that Patan Patola purchased by them is genuine Double Ikat PATAN PATOLA made at city Patan, Gujarat. The product has been crafted as per the ancient process as mentioned in PATOLA OF PATAN,(GI 232) in the name of Patan Double Ikat Patola Weavers Association.
